0000533: Moveme doesn't update nurl

When moving account, nurl in the contact table is not updated in your contacts databases.

An invalid nurl is probably bad, but it's taken me six weeks to even notice this - it doesn't seem to cause any noticeable problems in itself.

After pulling in the most recent git commit, I tried to run db_update and received the error "Call to undefined function check_config()". After reviewing the code, it is true check_config no longer exists. In prior versions it lived in boot.php. Now it is completely gone but is still called by db_update.php. This is a huge problem for upgrading. See this search for confirmation.

I'm not sure what the solution is as I'm not clear on why it got removed to begin with, so if someone could look into it that would be great.

I send the following message to test the error to an user:

"Ein Test ob nur das Ü betroffen ist oder auch Ä ä Ö ö Ü ü Ö ö ß"

The user recieved: "Ein Test ob nur das betroffen ist oder auch"

But: In my messages I see all characters, even the umlauts. The failure occurs only at the reciever.

Hello,
when i try to connect to forums/people on other server via web frontend, I receive the error message 'Profile location is not valid or does not contain profile information.' after confirming my contact request.
I am able to connect with accounts on my server friendica.vito.diskstation.me.
I i return and try again it says i already aksed for a connection.
But I never receive a confirmation of my request.

Each friendika account likely has more connections and reach than what is currently represented by the way contacts are presented. We have a number which shows what other accounts this contact is connected to, but this number is incorrect if you take into account the actual number of accounts that is reached via whatever plugins is being used by the user.

At the same time, a different level of communication functionality and related limitation is to be expected between accounts that we are connected depending on how we are connecting to that account. Twitter and identica connections are less functional than a connection to a facebook account, for instance.

I would suggest one of two approaches:

1) categorizing these connections we have to various accounts by the source they come from. The contacts section as viewed from our profile could just list the various types of connections our account has along with either a random subset of the accounts which use that connection (or even better the listing of the most active accounts if this information is available to us) or just a number which represents the number of accounts which are connected to via this method.

2) change the number of contacts listed to be an accurate reflection of the actual number of accounts we are connected to. Include the amount of contacts made by our twitter account, identica account, and any other account we have a connection to. This information would have to be pulled from the other account, and it is likely this information isn't available to us from some networks. But when it is, I think it would be helpful to use it.

It's good that posts can be edited (comments should be editable, too!), but the old "Who loves kittens?" that is later edited to "Who loves child porn?" problem exists, of course.
So please add some kind of hint to a post that has been edited.

One thing I really miss is the option to post something thats visible for the friends of my friends.

Possible would be a third button on the permisson box [and friends of] - so I can define to let a post be visible by the friends of contacts in every group I want and even the opposit: to let the friends of choosen groups NOT to see a post.

Please make it possible to post to Friendica using email. This can be done sending an email to a randomly (per user) generated email address on a Friendica server, like many webapps that have this feature.

With this feature/plugin it will be much easier to post from e.g. mobile phones.

I know, that I can select different profiles for different users. Thats okay, but truely, in my eyes it would be more work, than I want. If I want for example a more or less hidden profile for visitors, but most details visible for my contacts, I would be forced to add some informations twice and to select for each user the "detailed" version. If I have a third profile for my real life friends with all details and if for example one of my virtual contacts got a real life friend, usually I just would add this user to another group. But at this moment I'm also forced to go through the user setup to change my profile.

In my eyes, privacy settings for profile fields would be for most of the users a better way. Most communities and social networks are using this kind of way and users are "used" to it. So I choose, which fields are visible for everybody, which just for some groups (including the virtual "all contacts" group).
